Healthy Makeup For Skin: Looking Like A Model

Beautiful Red Headed Model In Purple Bra And White Blouse

We all want to look at our best and I am sure most women secretly want to look like some of the glamorous models and actresses we see in the media. So what are the healthy skin tips that these celebrities have that we do not?

Not surprisingly nearly all the models have a good understanding of makeup and how it can be used to make them look at their best. It makes sense then to use the best, most healthy makeup for skin you can: in most cases this will involve the use of mineral powder makeup.

Mineral powder makeup works with the skin and a good brand will also help provide the nutrition the skin needs to have that healthy glow. The makeup comes in a variety of colours and you can achieve the best image by simply combining the shades until you find the best look for your skin and face – take time to play with it and practice. If you can, it would be worth getting the input of an experienced professional at first.

The best look is nearly always a natural look that emphasises your most attractive features – and, yes, we all have them – but read fashion magazines and take note of the looks adopted by the models there.

Learn to take care of your skin. Research the best skincare products and be disciplined in using your face cleanser and toner daily. Moisturise after washing and exfoliate once a week.

It may seem strange to many, but your attitude can affect how you look. The old idea of models carrying books on their heads to correct their posture is not so far from the truth. Hold up your chin and throw your shoulders back and act as if you have already signed a multi-million contract. Become comfortable with being yourself.

Learn to walk like a model: glide without effort. Getting the right exercise will tone your muscles so that your movement becomes more fluid and will help you get the right body shape for you. Remember this does not mean you have to be a size zero since fit but curvaceous women are often seen as more attractive.

Explore the ways to have a healthy lifestyle. Treat your body with respect and eat the right foods. To operate at its optimum level (and so look at its best) your body needs to be fed the right nutrition. Understand what you need and ensure your balanced diet includes the right vitamins and minerals. Use quality nutrition supplements if that will help.

Drinking plenty of water will keep your skin plump and healthy and will ensure your bodily functions are at their best. You will know just how much you need to drink each day but it is preferable to avoid too much caffeine and alcohol. Together with smoking and drugs, these two will only have a detrimental effect on your attempts to look beautiful.

Plenty of relaxation and sleep are always useful but it is so important to feel confident and smile. Have fun and you will feel relaxed with yourself. Decide you will be happy whatever happens.

Find out from magazines, from hairdressers and by experimentation what is your best look. Discover your best hairstyle and what clothes really suit you.

They say beauty is only skin deep but in reality true beauty comes from the inside out. Find ways to lead a healthy lifestyle and take care of your body, have the discipline to do the right things to look good, and ensure your attitude is the best and you will find that you will be a striking beauty everyone will admire.

Tips For Fake Tanning: Keep Your Tan Longer

Winter is almost gone and spring is on its way (we hope). Now is the time we start to expose a bit more skin and we want that skin to look at its best. One way of doing so is to use sunless tan lotions to give us that healthy glow.

Many of us know long exposure to the sun is not good for our skin and so sunless tan lotions are the way forward.

We do want to look our best, so there are some tips for fake tanning that will help keep that healthy glow for longer.

A useful article on the BeautySouthAfrica.com website has some tips to help.

As with most beauty enhancements, preparation is key. Make sure you exfoliate to remove those dead skin cells and moisturise properly. This will prepare the skin to accept the tanning lotion when you apply it.

A tan will last that much longer if you look after your skin. It is worth moisturising as much, if not more, than before and you will have healthy skin as well as looking great. Using a body oil before you get into the shower will also preserve the tan for longer.

You can always enhance the tan on your face by subtle use of blushers and bronzers – but be careful, as always, of overdoing it and having a face considerably darker than your shoulders.

Obviously there will come a time when you will have to reapply your sunless tan lotions so, when you do, be careful to create a gentle tone or you will risk changing from light to dark overnight. Some people might like this but in most cases, as with other cosmetic applications, it is always best to make things look as natural as possible.

Let’s look forward to a beautiful and healthy summer!

More People Are Experiencing Collagen Benefits

A recent report by Global Industry Analysts, Inc. has shown that more and more people are set to discover the benefits of collagen as a way to improve their health. The growing number of older people and increased demand from developing nations mean that this useful protein will be in greater demand across the globe.

Collagen of course accounts for around one third of the total protein found in the body and is especially significant for the skin, bone and connective tissues in the joints. This is why extra collagen benefits older people as we start to lose more of the substance the older we grow.

In the example of our bones, we reach our peak bone mass between the ages of 20 and 30, after which it deteriorates at a rate of between one and two percent each year. This accelerates during menopause and leads to the distressing condition of osteoporosis or ‘brittle bones.’

Equally, a reduction of collagen in the connective tissues in our bones leads to the cartilage that protects the end of the bones wearing away. This means the bones rub together and wear, creating the painful condition we know as osteoarthritis. Athletes discover the benefits of collagen in keeping their joints operating at an optimum level.

Collagen benefits the skin too. It makes up around 75% of the skins mass and is affected by a number of conditions. Once again, menopause can accelerate the loss of collagen in the skin as we age and it is this that causes the loss of elasticity in the skin and leads to wrinkles and sagging.

The benefits of collagen can also be seen in the condition of other skin-related areas. The time taken for wounds to heal increases as our collagen decreases with age and both nails and hair lose their vitality.

But it is not only ageing that affects the level of collagen in the skin. An excess of exposure to Ultra Violet rays (such as in the sun) leads to premature ageing or ‘photoaging,’ with the increase of wrinkles, dryness, thinning, sagging and bruising in the skin.

A study published in the International Journal of Dermatology in 2002 reported that wrinkling had been recorded in the facial skin of cigarette smokers as young as 20 years old. Research shows that smoking damages the level of collagen in our skin too. A person who smokes ten cigarettes a day for ten years is more likely to lose their skin health than someone who does not smoke at all.

Professor Greg Whyte, senior physiologist at Liverpool University, advises the British Olympic Team and is frequently called upon to advise celebrities undertaking difficult challenges on television. He has no doubt about the benefits of collagen: “We need it for healthy joints, physical resilience and the ability to recover from injuries.” He tells us that we lose 1.5% of our collagen each year after the age of twenty-five. This means we have lost thirty percent by the age of forty and the benefits of collagen are also lost to us.

It is hardly surprising therefore that the GIA report shows that more and more of us are seeking products that restore the benefits of collagen as we get older.

The report shows an increase in competition in the collagen market too, driven by increased innovation in how we reintroduce the substance and thus the collagen benefits into our bodies.

This means there is more choice for consumers of collagen and therefore more confusion as to the best products to use.

One of the most effective ways to restore the benefits of collagen is to simply take the collagen hydrolysate tablets used by members of the British Olympic Team and produced by Proto-col. Find out more about these tablets at LookRavishing.com.
