Beautiful Oriental Dancer Smiling As She Dances Healthy Skin Tips: The Benefits Of Vitamin E

Vitamin E has been included in a number of products, including sunless tan lotions and healthy makeup for skin, so clearly has some benefits to our complexions. But what are they?

This vitamin has a function as an antioxidant. It prevents the build-up of free radicals in the body and thus it prevents cell damage. This can also mean a reduced risk of cancerous growths and damage to DNA. Vitamin E also supports the immune system and encourages the production of CD4 cells (to kill interloper cells naturally) and certain antibodies to promote the body’s defences against disease.

Sometimes antioxidants are also formed when the body breaks down fat to create energy. Healthy levels of vitamin E protect against this effect, particularly as it is fat-soluble itself.

This vitamin also helps the recovery from injuries, especially damage to the muscle, but this benefit also extends to the healing of the skin after injury or burns and the prevention of an excess of scar tissue forming. It may also have a beneficial effect on shingles, eczema, skin ulcers and cold sores. Overall it helps promote good skin health.

Vitamin E may well help to prevent the build-up of plaque in the arteries and so reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke. There are studies that suggest it could also prevent cataracts, reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes and Parkinson’s disease as well as even reducing the ill effects of menopause and PMS.

Clearly vitamin E has many interesting uses, although not all of them have been proved beyond doubt yet. Nonetheless this vitamin is a very useful component of quality nutritional health supplements and other health products.
