Healthy Skin Tips: The Benefits Of Vitamin E

Vitamin E has been included in a number of products, including sunless tan lotions and healthy makeup for skin, so clearly has some benefits to our complexions. But what are they?

This vitamin has a function as an antioxidant. It prevents the build-up of free radicals in the body and thus it prevents cell damage. This can also mean a reduced risk of cancerous growths and damage to DNA. Vitamin E also supports the immune system and encourages the production of CD4 cells (to kill interloper cells naturally) and certain antibodies to promote the body’s defences against disease.

Sometimes antioxidants are also formed when the body breaks down fat to create energy. Healthy levels of vitamin E protect against this effect, particularly as it is fat-soluble itself.

This vitamin also helps the recovery from injuries, especially damage to the muscle, but this benefit also extends to the healing of the skin after injury or burns and the prevention of an excess of scar tissue forming. It may also have a beneficial effect on shingles, eczema, skin ulcers and cold sores. Overall it helps promote good skin health.

Vitamin E may well help to prevent the build-up of plaque in the arteries and so reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke. There are studies that suggest it could also prevent cataracts, reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes and Parkinson’s disease as well as even reducing the ill effects of menopause and PMS.

Clearly vitamin E has many interesting uses, although not all of them have been proved beyond doubt yet. Nonetheless this vitamin is a very useful component of quality nutritional health supplements and other health products.

Healthy Makeup For Skin: New Baked Mineral Cosmetics

Okay, so we all know we should take good care of our skin and many know by now that one of the best ways to do this is wear all natural makeup. This helps the skin to breathe and it also provides extra nutrition to keep that glowing complexion.

One range of such healthy makeup for skin that is starting to make an impact on the cosmetics scene – particularly with the makeup professionals – is the Proto-col range.

For some time Proto-col have offered a high quality range of cosmetics designed to help your skin be at its best but now the company has developed a new range that improves the benefits to the skin still further.

They have called it their Baked Mineral Cosmetics and it promises to help all women look ravishing.

The aim is to give flawless coverage whilst also smoothing the skin. The key ingredients include safflower, lavender, rosemary, green tea, magnolia bark and jojoba and these work with each other to provide an amazing synergy designed to rejuvenate and calm your skin.

The combination of these natural ingredients means the cosmetics are hypoallergenic while restoring the skins natural PH balance and healing any imperfections. Together the substances also protect your skin and the specific combination of safflower and magnolia bark helps the hydration of the skin and provides a protective barrier to retain the moisture and sooth any skin problems.

The range of healthy makeup for skin offered can seem fairly limited, with three or four colours of foundations, eye shadow and mineral shimmers, until you realise that all the products have light reflecting abilities, which makes them suitable to most skin shades.

In any case, these are mineral cosmetics so the different shades can be combined to find the perfect colour for your skin.

If you care about your skin and want to look fantastic during the year ahead then you probably owe it to yourself to take a look at the new healthy makeup for skin in the Proto-col Baked Mineral Cosmetics range to be found at LookRavishing.com.

My Personal Healthy Skin Tips

My mother always laughed when I talked to her about the latest beauty product I had found and asked her for tips to beautiful skin. She had always washed with soap and water and had never used any face creams. Right into her eighties, she still had good skin – though obviously she hadn’t worried about trying to stop the wrinkles!
I am not so lucky and my skin gets dry easily. It is also quite sensitive – I learnt the hard way not to use strong soap if I didn’t want a puffy face! I don’t have a complicated skin routine. However, I am in my 50s and have managed to delay too many of the dreaded wrinkles so I assume I am doing something right. My healthy skin tips are simple and nothing we haven’t all heard before. These tips are:

  • Eat well – follow advice about healthy eating and drinking;
  • Protect your skin from the sun all the time, not just when you are sunbathing;
  • If you want a tan, read about tips for fake tanning and use of sunless tan lotions on this website;
  • Cleanse thoroughly with a gentle cleanser – even if you are really tired before you go to bed;
  • Find a moisturiser that suits you and use it;
  • Use a dedicated moisturiser around the eye area and be careful when applying – ‘be gentle’ is the order of the day.

There are no magic solutions and we are all different. However, we do all owe it to ourselves to look after our skin so, if you haven’t done so already, develop a routine that suits you and stick to it.
H.G.

Selecting A Healthy Makeup For Skin

Many people now understand that using an all natural makeup rather than the more common chemical cosmetics benefits the skin.

The best makeup for your skin uses natural ingredients, which work with the skin rather than simply cover blemishes like so many other cosmetics. As a healthy skin makes you look good anyway, this means you are more likely to look at your best.

Equally a good brand of mineral makeup will be available in subtle shades: this makes it easier to achieve that holy grail of skincare – the natural look. A good beauty regime emphasizes the shape of your face, the attractive features we all have and helps give your skin the glow it needs. The key is to do all this without looking like you are wearing makeup at all.

The right cosmetics will be from an all natural makeup range containing fine mineral powders from natural sources. Unfortunately many brands contain talc, fragrances, alcohol and artificial dyes that often react with the skin and, as a result, a significant number of women feel they cannot wear makeup at all.

If you do have a problem wearing makeup it would be worth your while trying a good all natural makeup – you may well be surprised at the results.

Why not begin your search by looking at the great range of natural makeup to be found at LookRavishing.com?

Sunless Tan Lotions: Using Fake Tan Products

The best sunless tan lotions when used properly completely remove the need to expose yourself to harmful the ultra-violet rays of the sun. It could be said that such lotions are thus a timesaver, money saver and health saver.

You no longer have to spend large amounts of money travelling around the world to find the sun, nor do you then have to spend hours lying in the sun. Of course many of us enjoy doing so but sunless tan lotions remove the need if we just want the tan without the long periods of sunbathing.

Tanning lotions work by triggering the production of melanin, the natural substance that enables the darkening of the skins pigment. This is achieved without the risks of melanoma or skin cancer.

Some of the better sunless tan lotions and all natural cosmetics further help your skin health by containing a sunblock to prevent sunburn.

A sign of a good quality tanning lotion is also the inclusion of a moisturiser. Environmental factors can dry out the skin, even without the influence of the sun but add in the ultra violet rays from the sun, and the problem is exacerbated. Sun worshippers frequently suffer from flaky and cracked skin leading to premature ageing.

Taking the risks of staying too long in the sun together with the benefits of using quality tanning lotions, it is difficult to see why anyone would use anything other than a good fake tan product to get a brown skin.

Healthy Skin Tips: Protect Your Skin In Flight

There are plenty of healthy skin tips to protect your complexion during day-to-day living but did you ever consider that flying might have an effect?

If you take a flight regularly, or even if you are going on a long-haul flight for your holiday, it might be worth considering some healthy skin tips to ensure you look as amazing when you arrive as when you left.

Taking an aircraft between destinations can be stressful mentally but your skin also suffers with the changes in atmosphere.

High altitude, high temperature and air conditioning dry the skin and you get all there when flying. It is wise therefore to ensure you drink adequate amounts of water before and during the flight – even if you are afraid of using the toilet during the flight!

Remember to avoid alcohol and caffeine drinks during the flight, even if they are offered to you. Most healthy skin tips will tell you to avoid these, as they tend to cause dehydration. Dryness also exacerbates jet lag too.

Use a moisturiser before you fly and consider packing one in your hand luggage for use on the flight. Be prepared to remove it during security searches, however!

Eyes particularly suffer from long haul flights so ensure you moisturise around them and even consider using eye drops in case the dryness becomes a particular problem. For this reason, contact lenses are probably not a good idea.

You may also want to ensure you use an all natural makeup that includes a sunscreen. Ultraviolet rays are stronger the higher the attitude so protection is a good idea – particularly if you have a window seat.

Healthy Skin Tips: Remember To Moisturise In Winter

Everyone knows that the air in summer is drier and that moisturising is important but I wonder how many accept that one of the important tips to beautiful skin is to moisturise during the winter months too?

Cold air is also very drying. Have you ever suffered windburn? You will know the damage that cold, dry winds can cause to your skin. It is very easy to allow the skin to dry out and even let it flake and crack.

Don’t forget the hands and feet of course; cracked skin on the hands and feet can be painful and may well bleed, and this is unsightly too.

Another reason for heeding this particular one of the tips to beautiful skin is we are now coming up to the busiest times for parties and we all want to look good at parties, don’t we? Make sure your skin looks fresh and glowing just when you want it to do so.

Even milder winter weather can dry out the skin so it worth spending the time applying a good moisturiser in the morning and last thing at night.

This is one of those tips that will help you feel good and confident during a time of year when we might feel a little down but need to shine.

Proto-col have a range of skincare and all natural makeup products to help you make the most of your winter and party look at LookRavishing.com.

Look out for their new promotions too!

Healthy Makeup For Skin: Mineral Makeup And Rosacea

A surprisingly large number of people are particularly keen to find a healthy makeup for skin as they suffer from a potentially embarrassing condition called rosacea.

The causes of rosacea are not yet known and as a result no cure is available. The condition is not dangerous or even physically debilitating but does cause awkwardness in social situations. The American national Rosacea Association reports that 88 percent of patients with severe symptoms tell the condition affects their professional activities. More than half even say they have missed work as a result. Three quarters of patients admit rosacea led to a reduced self-confidence.

Rosacea has a variety of symptoms such as redness on the face, watery or irritated eyes, pimples and bumps on the face and even visible blood vessels on the face.

There are various treatments available from medical professionals such as dermatologists and these may include avoiding foods or conditions that may make the condition worse. Circumstances that exacerbate the condition include hot baths, overly warm environments, sunshine and cold winds. Alcohol and hot drinks dilate the blood vessels and so make rosacea worse but certain foods (such as vinegar, spinach, spicy foods, citrus fruit and chocolate) and medicines also trigger increased symptoms. Interestingly exercise, stress and the menopause have an effect too.

Skin care and cosmetics have to chosen with care of course. Anything containing alcohol is to be avoided at all costs. A healthy makeup for skin, mineral cosmetics, is also useful for rosacea sufferers. Makeup of course is a friend to those who have the condition as it can camouflage the redness but it is best to try mineral all natural makeup as more traditional and cheaper types may irritate the skin still further.

Obviously the skin is already red so any healthy makeup for skin you use should be chosen to reduce this and it is a good idea to use a neutral lip colour, as an extreme red will only emphasis the rosacea. Equally rosacea can result in over sensitive eyes and again an all natural makeup would be more sympathetic around the eyes. Easy application with a brush is also an advantage.

As with all makeup, it is better to minimize the amount of cosmetics used. The best look is always the natural look but careful use of healthy makeup for skin can help to reduce the effects of rosacea and yet give the wearer a healthy natural-looking glow.

To find out more about rosacea, go to the useful Rosacea.org website and to find out more about the all natural makeup available from Proto-col, you will find the LookRavishing.com site useful.

Tips To Beautiful Skin: Wrinkles – How To Prevent Wrinkles

Introduction

One of the things we dread as we age is not just hair loss but wrinkles. Nothing makes us look older faster than developing wrinkles. To help avoid wrinkles here are a list of causes of how people develop wrinkles.

Smoking

You may not see it, but if you smoke you are not only damaging your health but you are damaging your skin that can lead to premature wrinkling. Smoking not only gives your face wrinkles, but the skin all over your body will develop premature wrinkles also.

The amount of damage you do to your skin will depend on how many cigarettes you smoke per day and how long you smoke. You may be able to damage your skin with only just ten years of smoking.

How does smoking damage your skin? The nicotine and other chemicals you intake during smoking causes the blood vessels in your skin to narrow and restrict blood flow. When this happens less nutrients are allowed to get to your skin. This also damages the fibers in your skin that strengthen it and gives it elasticity.

With the lack of nutrients and the damage to the fibers that give you skin strength, your skin will begin to sag and wrinkles will form.

Sun Light

We all want that glowing tan that gives us that healthy look, but exposure to sunlight or UV (ultraviolet radiation) can damage your skin, not only making you susceptible to skin cancer but premature wrinkles also. The UV radiation penetrates your skin damaging the fibers in your skin causing your skin to sag resulting in premature wrinkles.

It is recommended by most dermatologists today, that you use a sunscreen every day of the year. This is especially important for people with light or fair skin, who tend to develop more sun damage. Most moisturizers today provide a sunscreen in their products that you can apply in the morning before you go out.

Aging

Through the normal process of aging we develop wrinkles. The skins strength and elasticity is lost which causes your skin to sag and wrinkles to develop. This is most prevalent in the areas of the skin that are exposed to the sun.

This makes it more important to stay out of the sun and use a sunscreen daily.

Conclusion

To keep looking younger longer stay away from things that can cause you to develop premature wrinkles. Stop smoking, stay away from UV light as much as possible and use a moisturizer with a sunscreen everyday.

Healthy Skin Tips: Don’t Lose Sleep

There are some excellent skin products available to help your skin look its best (such as all natural makeup, for example) but one of the most significant tips to beautiful skinhas to be get enough sleep.

On the whole, an adult needs at least 8 hours sleep a night – in reality the sleep we actually get averages around 6-7 hours. Too many people get by on less. I used to work shifts and I know what a dramatic impact that can have on all the body’s functions.

Health and beauty is very much a holistic process and reduction in health shows in different ways around the body. The skin is often a good indicator.

It might be a good idea to understand what happens when we sleep. As our rest progresses, the body produces more insulin and cortisol, and this results in increased production of collagen, which is so important to a healthy skin. One of the collagen benefits is the retention of water. The correct levels of moisture in the skin leave it looking plump and fresh; not enough sleep leaves the skin looking tired and drawn with fine lines and dark circles under the eyes.

Much of the body’s repairs go on as we sleep and a lack of sleep affects the immune system. This leads to skin problems such as rashes and even eczema. During our deepest sleep growth hormones do their most important work and cell and tissue repair takes place.

Feeling not as active as you might be? Is your skin looking sallow or unhealthy? The first of the tips to beautiful skin you should put into practice is to get enough sleep.

Find out more about the importance of sleep in this article from the Los Angeles Times.
