Teenager Remembered in the Best Minerals Makeup

How would you react to your young daughter being killed? This is a question many of us simply could not answer but one mother turned her sad experience into a book and ultimately an item from the best minerals makeup.

In 2007, 15-year-old Abigail Simpson went to a party near her home in Scotland with friends. Her mother, Nicola Simpson, called goodbye to her daughter as she left. Sadly Abigail got into a car overloaded with five other friends and driver by a 17-year-old driver who had passed his test only three days before.

The next thing Nicola heard of her daughter was when a police officer knocked on her door to say that Abigail had been killed when the car turned over. Obviously the world of Abigail’s family collapsed. But what happened next is a lesson for other grieving parents.

Having sat through a very difficult court case, hating him all the while, Nicola met Scott, the driver of the car, and who had been found guilty of causing death by dangerous driving, and eventually found the strength to forgive him. She understood that Scott would have to live with the guilt Abigail’s death would bring him.

During this time she was persuaded to write her experiences with grief and pain in a book later published as ‘Abigail’s Rainbow.’ As she wrote, Nicola found the answers to many of the questions she had been asking and released.

The book lead to several interviews and public speaking events, at each opportunity Nicola explained her experiences, hoping to help others going through the same experience and to tell them they are not alone. She has also set up a website and supports the Crocus Child Bereavement Support Service.

Nicola now lives in Cyprus with her other daughter, Hannah, who she made sure feels as loved as Abigail did. She receives messages from other mothers who have found her best-selling book an inspiration.

Abigail had an ambition to become a beautician and a model. Nicola always thought it would be great to bring out a best minerals makeup range in her daughter’s memory. During a book signing recently, Nicola met Peter from Proto-col who thought he could do something.

After talking to James Greenwell, Managing Director of Proto-col, Nicola chose a bright pink colour she felt Abigail would like and she and Hannah came up with the name ‘Abigail’s Sparkle.’ This bright lip colour is now available among the best minerals makeup on LookRavishing.com.

Nicola described the lip colour as “a legacy to her: a dream come true. I would have to peel her off the ceiling with excitement if she was here.”

It is wonderful that a young life and a courageous mother can be commemorated in the best minerals makeup in this way.

How To Make Skin Glow Naturally

Somehow we can instinctively tell when someone takes care of their looks. Their skin has a glow to it that improves their attractiveness more than mere clothes and makeup can do. For this reason, it is useful to understand how to make skin glow naturally.

A good diet is always the first place to start. Ensure the food you eat includes healthy (preferably organic) fruit and vegetables with a wide range of nutrients but especially vitamin C, omega 3 fatty acids and fibre. Ensuring you have a balanced diet will often ensure you get the nutrients you need but, in any case, it is always well worth taking a good quality multi-vitamin supplement to top up the levels of goodness you require. Avoid eating too much sugar, salt, caffeine and drinking alcohol as these will dry out the skin and reduce its shine.

Exfoliate at least once a week. A good exfoliating product will ensure the dead skin cells will be removed, allowing the healthy cells to shine.

Use a moisturiser at the beginning of every day and in the evening. This will form a great base for cosmetics during the day and help the skin cells repair themselves at night. To help plump up the skin, also drink plenty of water during the day: this will also help the body clear any impurities too. Consider a course of high quality collagen tablets too: as we get older we lose collagen and so elasticity in our skin.

You can also make lifestyle choices to help your skin. Smoking should be avoided as this damages the skin cells, as does exposure to the sun. Nicotine and ultra violet rays lead to wrinkling and premature ageing. Make sure you get regular exercise, as this will stimulate the heart and lungs, leading to a better distribution of oxygen to the skin.

So it is really only a matter of decisions as to how to make skin glow naturally. If you are serious about looking good, then it is worth developing some good habits.

Achieving Flawless Skin With Makeup Makes Us Feel Good

Why do we buy makeup? Most women try to get flawless skin with makeup to look good, but does it go further than this?

In 2011, a study by the University of the Basque Country delved into the reasons many of us have for buying cosmetics. Getting flawless skin with makeup can be a psychological process.

Stunning Lady With Flawless Skin With Makeup Looking Into The Camera

It was discovered that advertising for cosmetics deliberately set out to make us all feel ugly in comparison to the models used. Sadly of course most of us are unlikely to achieve such flawless skin with makeup as the photographs used in advertising are often airbrushed to look perfect.

Nonetheless the cosmetics industry is growing: the world market is presently worth $243 billion, an increase of 3% since 2008 (www.ibisworld.com). Figures from CTPA also show that the UK market was worth £8.3 billion ($13 billion) in 2011 and the European market €67 billion ($90 billion).

There is certainly evidence that wearing cosmetics correctly makes the wearer feel a great deal better about herself. Knowing that the wearer demonstrates how she looks after her health and takes care of her appearance helps boost self-esteem. Of course we should never judge people by their looks but subconsciously we look down on people who clearly do not care for their appearance.

We all want to look attractive to the opposite sex and achieving flawless skin with makeup frequently helps achieve this. Looking good often helps in situations such as seeking employment too.

Getting our look right by practising with cosmetics has positive trade-offs therefore so it is worth finding the best makeup for your skin and working on looking good. Spend time on how you look and the results may surprise you.

Metabolism: How is Nutrition Related to Health?

In the western world we are facing a major problem of overweight and subsequent ill health. Heart disease and diabetes are affecting a substantial proportion of the population and much of it can be traced to simply bad lifestyle choices. For many people the key question is this: how is nutrition related to health?

Obviously the answer can be fairly complex but can be boiled down to the fact that our body requires certain substances to operate correctly. Add toxic chemicals or neglect the essential nutrients and your health will start to suffer.

There are several terms that we come across when trying to answer the question how is nutrition related to health: one of these is metabolism. We talk about fast or slow or effective metabolisms but what do we mean?

Young Man Eating Cake With A Fork

A metabolism exists in all complex life forms and describes the chemical process that converts what we feed our bodies into the nutrients required for effective processes and therefore continued health.

A functioning metabolism is therefore essential to keeping our organs functioning as they should and so keep us alive. Everything relies on a healthy metabolism, including heart health, breathing, digesting food, muscle operation and maintenance and repairing cells.

Your metabolism uses a significant amount of energy to operate – generally between 40 and 70% of the body’s overall energy use – so it make sense to ensure energy levels are maintained too.

We all have varying metabolic rates but men tend to have a faster rate as they tend to carry more muscle and bone but less fat: for this reason men tend to need to eat more calories than women. Hereditary can also influence the rate of your metabolism.

Many people blame weight gain on a slow metabolism but interestingly the metabolism rate increases according to your size: the processes need to feed nutrients over a larger area.

Usually no more than eating too much and/or not taking enough exercise cause an increase in weight.

Regular exercise will burn calories and, as a result, will increase your metabolic rate and make your bodily functions more efficient.

Most of the nutrients converted by the metabolic process are received in the stomach and then digested to break the food into the useable chemicals. Some substances can be absorbed through the skin and vitamin D can be produced through a reaction between chemicals already in the body and sunlight. Once the chemicals are released, most are transported around the body in the blood stream.

Clearly a study of the metabolism can get very technical but it should be plain that we need to consume the right foods to ensure the process works at its best. Hopefully this goes some way to explain how is nutrition related to health.

Why Models Are Turning to a Healthy Makeup for Skin

As we grow older decisions we made in earlier years start to produce results. Many women used artificial makeup in their formative years and are finding that a more healthy makeup for skin is the better option. Unfortunately all that time using cheaper low quality cosmetics can cause a reduction in nutrition in the skin, clogging of the pores and lessened supplies of oxygen.

This could well be one of the reasons skin wrinkles increase considerably, alongside other causes such as alcohol, excess sun and a reduction in collagen. Now is the time to turn to healthy makeup for skin and use mineral powder cosmetics.

Increasingly professional models and celebrities are using a healthy makeup for skin to help them look good when in the glare of publicity.

Good mineral makeup will provide nutrients to the skin and will allow the skin to breath. The use of natural ingredients in a good, healthy natural makeup will reduce the instances of reaction: artificial products can introduce chemicals to which a sensitive skin will react.

Several brands of mineral makeup deliberately introduce extra goodness to the skin to ensure that natural glow is maintained. Some ensure antioxidants are included to counter free radicals that damage the cells in the skin.

The fact that such healthy makeup for skin is made from mineral powder means there is also less moisture involved. This may seem a bad idea but wet cosmetics can develop bacteria and require artificial preservatives to last long enough.

Using the correct brushes, mineral makeup can also last longer as less is needed to achieve the required effect and, as the best look is often natural, it is easier to look as if you use no makeup and yet achieve a healthy glow to your skin and emphasize your best features.

As usual, the increase of models and celebrities using a healthy makeup for skin has lead to others following their example and a steady increase in the market for natural mineral powder makeup.

Ways to Lead a Healthy Lifestyle in Hot Weather

In the UK recently many parts of the country have been experiencing hot, summer weather. Prior to that, parts of the USA also basked in hot sun. Despite the attractions of such sunny weather there are certain ways to lead a healthy lifestyle in the sun.

Beautiful Lady in Blue Costume Lying in Sun

When temperatures soar, there are sections of the community that especially need to take account of these ways to lead a healthy lifestyle in the sun: problems have been identified among the older members of society and babies and young children who have skin more sensitive than adults. Certain heart, skin and conditions can leave us open to problems in extreme weather, particularly if we are working or exercising outside for extended periods of time.

During 2003 temperatures reached 38 degrees centigrade (101 degrees Fahrenheit) and health authorities identified around 2000 to 3000 more deaths than normal. It was estimated this figure rose to 30,000 across the European continent.

So what are the ways to lead a healthy lifestyle in such conditions?

Many of us open the windows and doors to allow a breeze through the house in hot weather and yet, if you observe countries that habitually experience high temperatures, you will find the populations shut windows and pull down the shades, only opening windows when things cool down in the evening.

The song ‘Mad Dogs and Englishmen Go Out in the Midday Sun’ was quite right: those used to the heat have learned to stay indoors during the hottest part of the day. This is generally between 11am and 3pm.

It is also important to drink lots of cool drinks. A friend who served in Iraq told me recently that the best time to drink is before you need it. If you wait until you are thirsty it is already too late. Start the day drinking water or fruit juice and continue to do so throughout the day. Tea, coffee and alcohol are to be avoided.

Remember that protecting the skin is important too. Wear a hat (a wide-brimmed one may look unfashionable but is to be preferred) and keep exposed shin covered with regular doses of sun block. In the evening and morning moisturise extensively the same areas. Watch for redness and give those patches especial attention.

The National Health Service gives some excellent guidelines on their website.

Enjoy the summer but ensure you keep healthy too.

How to Look Beautiful Naturally

Most of us, whether we admit it or not, want to look at our best and it makes sense to look beautiful naturally rather than relying on artificial products.

To look at our best we need to look at our lifestyle. What we do every day affects the way we look.

Audrey Hepburn came close to the truth when she said, “For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others; for beautiful lips, speak words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone.” One of the first things we need to do to look beautiful naturally is to reduce the stress in our lives. When we get stressed the heart rate changes and we breath faster and less deeply: this has the effect of restricting the blood vessels to the skin, which leads to a lack of a glow to the skin through a reduced blood supply.

So reduce the amount of pressure you put yourself under and look for the good in other people. You will feel and look better.

There are external stresses to avoid too: smoking is a bad idea as it dries out the skin, restricts the blood vessels and promotes premature ageing. This is also true of spending too long in the sun (not forgetting the risk of skin cancer, of course) although some exposure is good as it improves the supply of vitamin D to the skin. Always be prepared to wear a good sunblock if you want to look beautiful naturally.

Get enough sleep as it is as you sleep that the skin repairs itself and the wrinkles reduce. Also drink plenty of water before you need to do so. Once you feel thirsty it is too late and your skin will already be losing its plumpness. Get into the habit of drinking enough water daily: avoid caffeine and alcohol however as they have the effect of drying the skin.

Not surprisingly a good diet is essential to look beautiful naturally. A good balanced diet without too much of one food is ideal but include a wide range of fruit, vegetables, nuts and oily fish (for the Omega-3 oils). Avoid too much sugar too as it has been linked to breakouts of pimples and spots. The body needs the right fuel to maintain its functions so watch what you eat: if you are worried about your nutrition, you might consider a course of good-quality multi-vitamins too.

Exercise is good for the skin too as it promotes the body’s functions and opens the pores. Remember to shower afterwards of course to remove any dirt ejected by the sweat. You don’t need to run a marathon, just 30 minutes of walking, running, cycling or swimming will do: just enough to get you out of breath.

To look beautiful naturally you do need to look after your skin. Use a good moisturiser daily after washing with a gentle cleanser and padding the skin dry. If you do use makeup, to look great why not use the best minerals makeup you can afford? Cosmetics of this type will not block your pores and may even provide nutrients; remember to carefully clean your brushes after each use though.

It is not that difficult to look beautiful naturally. It is simply a case of getting into healthy habits and controlling your lifestyle. In the end, you will not only get to look beautiful naturally but you will feel good too.

Vegetarianism, Nutrition and Your Health

If you become a vegetarian, it is rarely to improve nutrition and your health, but more as a rebellion against the consumption of living animals. Many would consider a vegetarian diet to be unhealthy and some may label it unnatural.

The truth is a meat-free diet can be good for your nutrition and your health; as in all diets, care has to be taken to eat the right foods to enable the body to operate at its best. Nutrients that many of us consume from animal products can be found from other sources.

Salad and a Fork on a Red Plate

It is important to ensure a balanced, varied diet in the same way every person does.

There are certain nutrients you need to include to ensure the best for nutrition and your health.

Fish and eggs, for example, generally provide us with adequate supplies of Omega-3 fatty acids and these of course help the heart to function at its best. You may however have chosen a diet (and there are degrees of vegetarian diets) that excludes these food types.

To replace a source of required fatty acids, you will need to consider soy oil and beans, walnuts and seeds, such as flaxseeds. As with all the nutrients, if you find it difficult to eat the goodness you need, you might consider using a good quality vitamin supplement.

We all need calcium in our diets to ensure strong and healthy teeth and bones and this can be found in dairy products, otherwise dark green vegetables, such as broccoli and kale, will help, but also an increasing number of juices and cereals now include extra calcium.

Iron is an important part of your nutrition and your health no matter what your diet so it is essential to include sources in your food. Iron helps carry oxygen around in the blood. For vegetarians breakfast cereals, spinach, lentils, dried fruit and whole wheat breads can provide iron.

Dairy products such as milk and eggs can provide vitamin B12, as can soya milk and some breakfast cereals. A lack of this vitamin can affect nutrition and your health especially in the brain and nervous system: fatigue, depression and forgetfulness are early symptoms.

These are just some of the important nutrients our bodies need to function correctly. If you choose a vegetarian diet then you still need to ensure the maintenance of nutrition and your health from appropriate sources.

The Importance of Using Brushes to Apply Mineral Powder Makeup

Makeup Brush Resting on Dish on Table

The most striking effects can be achieved using modern mineral powder makeup. From the popular natural look (is she wearing makeup or isn’t she?) to the most colourful party face, applying your cosmetics correctly can create a wide range of effects.

To achieve such artistry, the makeup professionals must use, as do all artists, the most appropriate and best tools. Anyone applying mineral powder makeup needs to use the right brushes to achieve the flawless finish to which they aspire.

Makeup brushes do work like an artists brushes, following the contours of the face to apply a smooth and even coverage with the minimum of fuss.

To save money, many women attempt to use their fingers to apply the makeup but are usually defeated by the mess that creates and the inability to get a smooth, natural finish. In addition, fingers are never 100% clean and can contaminate the cosmetics. Equally, using an unsuitable powder puff or sponge can also trap muck and bacteria, which could cause acne or other conditions, particularly if you have sensitive skin.

Also, when using anything other than brushes, you will find there will be a much greater wastage of the cosmetics.

When applying mineral powder makeup, you should always ensure the brushes are cleaned and dried after every use: in this way they will always be ready for the next drop dead gorgeous application of your mineral powder makeup!

If you are looking for a set of the high quality brushes to apply your mineral powder makeup, take a look at the range offered on LookRavishing.com.

Combating Stress As One of the Ways to Have a Healthy Lifestyle

Young Woman in Glasses Eating Burger in Restaurant

We all read health and nutrition articles in the press regarding how to look beautiful naturally, particularly through living a healthy lifestyle. Sadly too many of us start off with good intentions but let good habits lapse as soon as our jobs get in the way.

My personal experience in the past certainly confirms this: in a previous job I was expected to work an irregular shift pattern and, although I intended to find ways to live more healthily, I soon found that I was snacking on all the wrong foods in an attempt to keep my energy levels up.

Of course, we all know a healthy diet will give you all the energy you need but it is easy to forget this when your stress levels are high!

A recent study by the Finnish Institute of Occupational Health, and reported on the DailyRX.com website, found that workers who reported job stress were 25% more likely to practice an unhealthy lifestyle. Indeed, of the 118,701 people studied, 84% were found to lead an unhealthier lifestyle.

These findings should help employers understand that limiting the workplace stress experienced by their staff leads to fewer days off sick and a general higher rate of efficiency. Companies would thus benefit from helping their workers lead better lifestyles.

Read more about this research on the DailyRX.com website.
